Tawny Cypress generally keeps her personal life out of the spotlight, but in 2013, she found herself on the front pages of tabloid newspapers. Bill Charles, her ex-husband, had sued the Heroes actress and her husband, Tom Dillon, for allegedly arranging an attack on him and framing him for assault.
According to Charles, Cypress had planned an excursion for him and their preteen son, Dexter Cypress, on June 6, 2012, at the Cheeburger Cheeburger on Seventh Avenue. When Charles arrived at the spot, he saw Dillon waiting outside the burger shop and reportedly struck him with a “hard instrument,” knocking him to the ground and sustaining a concussion. When the police came, the pair allegedly “acted with others through deceit, concocting a fictitious account of events” in which Charles was accused of violently abusing his son in public. As a consequence, Charles was imprisoned for six nights on assault charges. Charles, who was married to Cypress from 2000 to 2004, would not go down without a fight and filed a lawsuit against the pair.

Tawny Cypress and Her Husband Filed a Lawsuit
Cypress and her husband were in court with her ex-partner in January 2013, and she allegedly remarked to Charles, “How much more yellow can you be?” before mouthing “scumbag” as she walked out of the room in Brooklyn Criminal Court. The actress, who was not there when the incident erupted outside the burger business, insisted that this was not her case. During the hearing, Charles’ attorney, Robert Feldman, provided surveillance video and contended that it never showed his client putting a hand on the then-11-year-old kid. However, Dillon was able to catch a group of people moving the child outside and preventing his father from reaching him until Dillon hit Charles.
Feldman alleged the whole encounter was a set-up that culminated with Dillon hitting Charles with a mobile phone, injuring him. “My kid is being forced to live with a guy who attacked me with a lethal weapon and attempted to murder me,” Charles said during the hearing in Brooklyn Criminal Court. He said that he had not been able to visit his kid since his detention over seven months ago. The trial was scheduled to begin on February 4, 2013, however, it seems that the parties involved settled quietly, since no information on how the issue was handled.
Tom Dillon and Tawny Cypress Have Moved On
Since then, the actress and her husband have gone on with their lives. During an interview with The Wall Street Journal in November 2021, the actress, who seldom discussed her personal life, spoke up about it. She said that she and her spouse are presently residing in New Jersey. They used to live in Brooklyn when their kid was younger because they wanted him to attend a good high school, which Brooklyn had.
The pair vacationed at the Jersey Shore once or twice a year since the actress enjoyed walking on the beach to clear her mind and think things through. One day, since Cypress liked animals, they wanted to acquire a farm with a barn and hens, alpacas, pigs, and goats.
