Sean Kanan was born in Ohio on November 2, 1966. He’s played a number of noteworthy parts in famous films and television series throughout the years. He is well recognized for his roles in legendary soap operas such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, in addition to his appearance as Mike Barnes in The Karate Kid III.
Verotika, Beyond the Law, and 10 Attitudes are just a handful of his cinematic credits. He’s also received and been nominated for several honors, including an Independent Series Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his work in Studio City, a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for his work on ABC’s General Hospital, and many more. Mike Barnes, Kanan’s most well-known character, originally debuted in the 1989 action film The Karate Kid Part III. Barnes is a gifted martial artist who has won several big contests around the country. In his early days, he was renowned as a brutal Karate fighter.
Terry Silver, the primary villain in The Karate Kid Part III, recruits Barnes after reading about him in a magazine. Silver wants Barnes to win the next All Valley Karate Tournament against Daniel LaRusso. The specifics of Barnes’ involvement in Cobra Kai season 5 are being kept under wraps. The creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, said in an interview with Netflix:
“As Terry Silver summons some old acquaintances to strangle the Valley, Daniel and Johnny will need all the support they can get to halt Cobra Kai in its tracks.”
