Edith Head was born in the lovely city of San Bernardino, California, and raised in the town of Searchlight, Nevada. She is the child of Max Posener and Anna E. Levy. Her father immigrated to the United States in 1876 as a naturalized American citizen from Germany.
In terms of education, Head attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in letters and science.
