Peet was born in the lovely city of New York to Penny, a Social Worker, and Charles Peet, a Corporate Lawyer. Peet moved to London with her family when she was seven years old, returning four years later.
She auditioned for acting with teacher Uta Hagen in college and decided to become an actress after taking Hagen’s class. Peet appeared in the Off-Broadway Revival of Clifford Odet’s Awake and Sang with Stephen Lang during her four-year study with Hagen.
