He was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on November 1, 1975. Bo Bice’s parents, Harold Elwin and Nancy Brice divorced when he was young. After the divorce, Bice stayed with his mother, and in addition to his biological siblings, he also had many step-siblings and brothers. Bo’s family relocated to London in 1990. He attended London Central High School, where he was passionate about playing the guitar and football. While still a student, he started his first band, Spinning Jenny. He moved from London to Alabama, where he finished college at Calhoun Community College.

Bo Bice and his band Purge produced a CD in 1995 under the moniker. He performed across the USA, UK, Ireland, and Europe and enjoyed a fair amount of popularity in the nightclub scene.

He also played in the bands SugarMoney and Blue Suede Nickel. Ex Gratia and Recipe for Flavor are albums he recorded before his Idol success. He collaborated on a song with Johnny Neel as well.
