John Mcafee was born on a US Army base in Cinderford, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, on September 18, 1945, to an American father and an English mother. His father served in the United States Army and was stationed in the United Kingdom. Mcafee grew up in Salem, Virginia, in the United States. John Mcafee worked as a programmer for NASA’s Institute for Space Studies in New York from 1968 to 1970 before starting McAfee Associates.
