RuPaul’s Drag Race has been nominated for 11 Emmy Awards in 2022. The famous reality program is popular with viewers and has won several Emmy awards in the past. RuPaul’s Drag Race is one of the most popular television reality competition series. The series, hosted by RuPaul, has had 14 successful main seasons as well as various spin-offs, including RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars and RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race. Many candidates who made their stage debut in drag have gone on to become household stars known across the globe.

This year, the event has retained its significance by receiving a significant amount of nominations. How did the program and its spin-offs do at the Emmys in 2021?
RuPaul’s 2021 Emmy Awards created history. The host broke the record for the most Emmy awards by a person of color with 11 victories. The popular reality program also became Emmys’ most-awarded reality competition show. Last year, RuPaul and famed cinematographer Donald A. Morgan matched for the most Emmy Awards for people of color. For the sixth year in a straight, the host, whose full name is RuPaul Andre Charles, broke the record for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program (the show had already broken the record at the 2020 Emmy Awards).
During his acceptance speech after winning the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program, he praised World of Wonder and Viacom-CBS before praising all the young children who shared their brave experiences. According to the host:
“Thank you to all of our amazing youngsters from across the globe on our broadcast.” They are very grateful to share their experiences of bravery and how to manage this challenging life, which is much more difficult now. This is intended for you. And to the youngsters who are watching: you have a tribe waiting for you. We’re ready for you, baby: come on over to Mama Ru. Thank you a lot.”
During the Creative Arts Emmys event is 2021, the reality program received four Emmys. Drag Race received the award for directing a reality show (for Nick Murray), which it had previously won in 2018. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked won the unstructured reality category for the first time, adding another feather to the franchise’s cap.
Other reality contests nominated for Emmy Awards in 2022 include The Amazing Race, The Voice, Top Chef, and Survivor. Many Netflix reality shows have been nominated for the prize, including Love On The Spectrum US, Selling Sunset, and Queer Eye. The 2022 Emmy Awards will be televised live on NBC on September 12 at 8 p.m. ET and streamed live on Peacock.
