The weeks-long defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard became one of the most popular subjects on the internet. For six weeks, Depp and Heard corresponded about their turbulent relationship and its tragic conclusion. The countless hours of witness evidence and dramatic disclosures drew record-breaking crowds to the controversial trial on YouTube and social media.
Depp eventually won his lawsuit against Heard, leading fans all around the globe to rejoice. His attorneys, who were crucial to the case, also attracted a lot of attention. Camille Vasquez, Depp’s attorney, drew the public’s attention. Vasquez is a Brown Rudnick Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group associate with “deep expertise with concurrent reputation management and crisis communications challenges stemming from these engagements.” She formerly represented a number of celebrities, including Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lopez. According to online speculation, she will now represent another high-profile celebrity, namely popular YouTuber David Dobrik.
Camille Vasquez is representing David Dobrik In a lawsuit against Jeff Wittek
On June 23, 2022, celebrity news site Def Noodles posted a TikTok video of Vasquez to Instagram with the caption “David Dobrik may have hired Johnny Depp’s attorney.” The caption said that the video was from May 2022, and Depp’s attorney Ben Chew stated that she had a chat with Dobrik.
Ex-Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek has sued Dobrik for “negligence and tort” in connection with the excavator accident that almost killed him. It is unclear if Vasquez will represent Dobrik in the case, but given on the responses in the comments area, it seems that she will not.
“I hope she doesn’t because she needs a winning streak and this would cost her. Don’t do it!! ” one user commented another commenter commented, “NO, he best not have her as his lawyer because David NEEDS to lose this lawsuit.”
Some supporters also suggested that Vasquez represent Wittek instead. “I hope she flips around and represents Jeff,” one commenter said.
David Dobrik has filed a lawsuit against Jeff Wittek
The YouTube sensation is suing Wittek after a 2020 stunt went awry, resulting in the latter’s near-fatal injuries. Wittek is suing for $10 million in damages, according to a complaint acquired by People. He claimed that the accident left him bedridden for months and cost him thousands of dollars in medical expenditures as a result of his severe injuries, which included a cracked skull, facial fractures, and eye impairment.
Wittek was slung on a rope linked to an excavator while making a video in June 2020 when the event occurred. Dobrik was running the construction equipment at the time, and the clip, which has since been removed, was subsequently uploaded on YouTube in April 2021. Wittek alleged in the petition that Dobrik went too far by whirling the construction equipment at “unsafe speeds” before stopping it, forcing Wittek to collide into the machine. He is now seeking compensatory as well as punitive damages.
