Jwan Yosef was born in Ras al-Ayn, Syria, on September 6, 1984. His father is Kurdish and his mother is Armenian. Hiba Hammond and Ahmad Yosef are his parents. His family moved to Sweden when he was two years old.
He attended the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm after finishing high school. He went to the Perby School of Painting to study painting. He later earned his Master of Fine Arts degree at Central Saint Martins in London.
