He began playing football for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ youth team at a young age but was released at the age of 13. After that, he joined Shrewsbury Town’s youth team and began his club career in 2004. He signed his first professional one-year contract prior to the start of the 2009-10 season. He made his debut wearing the number 20 jersey and won 3-1 against Burton Albion.

On November 26, 2009, he signed a one-month loan with Conference North club AFC Telford United, where he appeared in six games and scored once. He later signed a one-month emergency loan with Conference North club Hinckley United on March 5, 2010. He made five appearances for Shrewsbury Town before returning to the club, scoring no goals.
