He began auditioning for a trainee position with an entertainment company at a young age and was successful, allowing him to begin training with Pledis Entertainment. He worked with Pledis for several years, honing his vocal and dance abilities. In 2013, he made his first public appearance on the platform UStream as part of an online show called “Seventeen TV.” He and the other 12 members of the band were introduced in the show, which featured their rehearsals leading up to performances.
After two years, it was decided that the group would make their official debut on MBC in the form of a one-hour special, making them the first K-pop act to make their debut on a major television network. They worked on the reality show “Seventeen Project: Big Debut Plan” prior to their debut.
Jeonghan was assigned to Seventeen’s vocal unit, joining members Woozi, DK, Seungkwan, and Joshua – other Seventeen units include the performance unit and the hip-hop unit. Only a few days after their big debut, the group released their first EP, “17 Carat,” which made waves internationally, especially in the United States.
