Ruby Tandoh and her wife Leah Pritchard have been married since September 2018. The pair met on Tinder and made their relationship public in 2015. They confirmed their engagement on social media two years later, in January 2017. The former Great British Bake Off contestant and her musician husband married in a low-key ceremony in Sheffield before partying with family and friends at Abbeydale Picturehouse, a disused cinema. The baker was seen on a momentous day wearing a modest cream kaftan-style white lace dress with pink open-toe shoes and holding a little sprig of white flowers.
Meanwhile, her wife, who is a member of the band Alimony Hustle, was dressed in an electric blue suit, a bright printed shirt, and brown brogues. Tandoh changed into a short sequin gown for the reception, and she and Pritchard were greeted by a cool lightbox announcement of their wedding.
Ruby Tandoh’s Wife Supports Her
In 2015, the chef and cookbook author made a public appearance on Twitter. She exposed her sexual orientation by saying, “Me to my parents today,” accompanied by a video of Diana Ross’s song “I’m Coming Out.” “I’m feeling happy, joyous, and f re e. over and out,” she said. Her declaration occurred only a few months after she started seeing her boyfriend.
When asked how she found her sexual identity, the chef said that she had previously dated males, but she felt the need to explore and understand another aspect of herself. She went on a few dates and, fortunately for her, she met Pritchard shortly. Tandoh said in an August 2016 interview with Grazia that her wife urged her to come out. She added that the author spent a lot of time alone before they met and was shocked at how easy she found someone new in her “insular existence.” She went on to say that they were in it for the long haul and that marriage and children were not top priorities; instead, they were seeking to get a dog and purchase their first house. However, in a February 2018 Op-ed piece for The I online daily, she announced that she and her boyfriend planned to adopt within the following several years.
Ruby Tandoh Calls Out Misogynists
Tandoh slammed misogynists after coming out as bisexual. The author came under fire at the time for reportedly flirting with show judge Paul Hollywood during her presence on the program. She told the Guardian that she was sick of defending herself against the charges. She said that the baking specialist was old enough to be her father and that she would sooner eat her foot than flirt her way to victory. She further said that the remarks were disrespectful to the judges and their professional integrity. However, when she came out, the baker claimed it helped her respond to people who condemned her on the program. “P.S. for those who believed I was rooting for Paul Hollywood to succeed. “The joke’s on you, you enormous misogynists,” Tandoh remarked.
