Simon obtained work as a mailroom clerk at Warner Brothers’ East Coast Office in Manhattan after being released from the service and graduating from university. After a few years, he resigned from his job and began writing for radio and television with his brother. They battled alongside Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, and others, writing for programs such as ‘The Phil Slivers Show’ and ‘Your Show of Shows.’
Simon was nominated for an Emmy for his television writing multiple times, which spurred him to migrate to the stage, and his first Broadway production, ‘Come Blow Your Horn,’ opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in 1961.
