From 2013 to 2014, Slater was an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Medicine, where she also worked as an assistant professor of pathology at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. Her husband attended UCLA, where he was named first-team All-Pac-10 and was drafted by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Slater, who spent much of his career on special teams, is regarded as one of the NFL’s best gunners. On special teams, he was named to 10 Pro Bowls, including seven straight between 2011 and 2017, and was named to five first-team All-Pro teams. Slater also won three Super Bowls in Super Bowl XLIX, LI, and LIII.
